About - Sheena Kaas Mudaliar, MA; LMHC
Sheena Kaas is a mother, a counselor, and a woman of faith dedicated to helping you build a new legacy through trauma recovery

I’m a born and raised Washingtonian from a multi-generational logging family, and a woman of Coast Salish descent. I’m a licensed mental health counselor but my journey started on a different path…

I graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science. As an undergrad, I conducted research in ecological restoration.

From the tropics of Costa Rica, to the Willamette National Forest, I learned that nature always finds a way to restore its natural equilibrium.

I carried my passion for ā€œrestorationā€ as I pivoted my career to counseling. I graduated from Saint Martin’s University with a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology.

Now I work with individuals to restore–or find for the first time–theirĀ natural equilibrium.

I spent the first seven years of my career helping indigenous people to heal from the effects of historical and intergenerational trauma. I treated anxiety, depression, PTSD, grief and loss, and relationship challenges but learned to do it from a multi-generational lens.

More recently, I started working with people of faith, especially from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints community, to recover from all forms of abuse. I validate how statements like ā€œforgive othersā€ or ā€œcast away angerā€ can evoke shame and confusion among trauma-survivors. I educate about how broader cultural beliefs add to this confusion and how to live true principles while deciphering between, healing from, and protecting oneself from abuse.

From both populations, I learned that,

We each carry emotional burdens from previous generations, whether from inside our families or greater society–but we can heal; and we can create a new legacy for future generations.

This brings me to you.

At some point, you may have discovered that there are gaps in your ability to cope with lifeā€™s challenges.

You may be wondering how to navigate a challenge in your relationship, you may be discovering for the first time that your family carries a legacy of abuse, or you may be wondering whether you’re doing enough as a parent.

Hereā€™s the deal. No matter your background, you have a lot of influence over your future and over the legacy that you pass on to your posterity. Thatā€™s what my work is all about.

I help people like you to heal from emotional burdens, fill in the gaps, and build a new legacy for the next generation.

Whether you want tools to cope, want help navigating lifeā€™s storms, want to process trauma out of your body, or want help with your relationship, Iā€™m here to help. Whether this is your first time seeking counseling or a new leg in your healing journey, Iā€™m here to meet you where you’re at and guide you to where you want to be.
